“Dear Sylvia and Cheshire Woman of the Year committee members,
Thank you so much for organising another Cheshire Woman of the Year luncheon. It was as always, a really fantastic event with a roomful of really amazing women (including the committee members).
Please pass on my thanks to all those involved as I know how difficult it is to put the event on. Thank you too for the very kind donation of £1500. It’s such a difficult time to raise money. We really appreciate you being able to donate this fantastic sum.
We offer some amazing services to Cheshire families including Childline, our adult helpline and our schools service. We are also developing fantastic new services from our Merseyside hub including virtual services that can be accessed from other locations.
· 32,289 children in 142 schools in Cheshire took part in our online Speak Out, Stay Safe programme in 21/22.
· We estimate around 3200 young people from Cheshire received counselling sessions from Childline.
· We made 669 referrals to the police or other agencies in Cheshire from contacts to our helpline because of the risk to children.
· We also deliver training, work with partner organisations, campaign and assist children and families right across the region.
It costs just £4 to answer a call from a child to Childline and £5 on our helpline. £1500 supports a lot of young people and will make an incredible difference to them at a really difficult time in their lives.
No child should suffer abuse. Struggling with devastating trauma, violence and neglect is too much for children. They are lonely and frightened, and the scars can last a lifetime.
With your continued support, we can protect children today and prevent abuse tomorrow:
Your support means that we can be there for every child. Because of you, we are on the phone, online, in their classrooms, whenever and wherever they need us. In the face of new challenges, you are helping us create a safer world around them.
Together we can change children’s lives. Together we can stop abuse.
Thank you so much and I hope we can continue with this wonderful event and thank you for letting me part of it.
Yours sincerely,
Deborah Sefton
